EVV in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania EVV compliance, built in

Electronic Visit Verification is mandatory for Pennsylvania Medical Assistance home care. CareAnchor verifies every visit by GPS or telephony and keeps audit-clean records — no bolted-on second app.

The requirement

EVV is mandatory for Pennsylvania Medicaid home care

The federal 21st Century Cures Act requires Electronic Visit Verification for Medicaid personal care services (since January 2020) and home health services (since January 2023) in every state. For Pennsylvania agencies, that means visits billed to Pennsylvania Medical Assistance must be electronically verified.

Pennsylvania agencies must verify visits electronically for Pennsylvania Medical Assistance. States run EVV one of two ways — a single state system (a designated aggregator you send visit data to) or an open/provider-choice model (you use any compliant EVV solution). Confirm Pennsylvania’s current model with Pennsylvania Medical Assistance or your managed care organization.

GPS verification

Caregivers clock in and out on their phone; location and time are captured automatically.

Telephony backup

No smartphone or signal? Visits verify by phone from the client’s landline.

Audit-clean records

Every visit stores the six Cures Act data points, ready for a Medicaid audit.

EVV rules and designated systems change by state and contract. Always confirm Pennsylvania’s current EVV requirements directly with Pennsylvania Medical Assistance or your managed care organization before relying on any summary.
