EVV is mandatory for New Jersey Medicaid home care
The federal 21st Century Cures Act requires Electronic Visit Verification for Medicaid personal care services (since January 2020) and home health services (since January 2023) in every state. For New Jersey agencies, that means visits billed to NJ FamilyCare must be electronically verified.
New Jersey agencies must verify visits electronically for NJ FamilyCare. States run EVV one of two ways — a single state system (a designated aggregator you send visit data to) or an open/provider-choice model (you use any compliant EVV solution). Confirm New Jersey’s current model with NJ FamilyCare or your managed care organization.
